Here Come the Cupcakes

June 10, 2011. The annual Reston Children's Center (RCC) Pre-School Parade. After weeks of secret preparations the children's costumes are finally revealed to the proud parents as each class marches down the parade path. The theme for the 2010-2011 year was "Community Helpers." Each class was named to match the theme (sort of)- Reporters, Nurses, Artists, Party Planners, Astronauts, Park Rangers, Therapy Dogs, and Coffee Brewers to name a few. Lincoln's class was the Bakers. His class, taught by Ms. Erin, dressed as cupcakes for the parade and boy did they look delicious. Lincoln is the one in the rear with orange frosting.

The Coffee Brewers.

Taking a bow....

My little cupcake. We spotted Lincoln in the parade long before Lincoln saw us. When Lincoln did see us, his face lite up with the most amazing smile - it seriously brought tears to my eyes. Later that night I asked Lincoln what his favorite part about the parade was. He turned to me and with complete sincerity said, "Mama my favorite part was you watching me." I melted.
