Easter 2011

April 24, 2011. Easter morning. Berkeley was the early riser this Easter, but Lincoln rolled out of bed all fuzzy-headed around 9am, his enthusiasm topped his younger brother, particularly when he spotted the pair of shark flip-flops that the Easter bunny brought. For several weeks preceding Easter, Lincoln had been asking for flip-flops. Not sure where the sudden interest came from, but it is a good thing that illusive bunny has such big ears and managed to find just the pair to make Lincoln happy.

Lincoln's surprises from the Easter bunny.
Berkeley's surprises.

Wow, mama, loooook!!!!! Flip-flops!

They look super cool, right mama.

A careful study of the above picture by a keen egg hunter would find at least 12 hidden eggs. Perhaps the Easter bunny should have brought Lincoln some glasses as he seriously just finished saying, "mama, I don't see any more eggs." He had little to no interest in finding the eggs that the Easter bunny hid. Except for the special spiderman ones.
New soccer goal in action.
After loading up on sugar we headed down the street for an egg hunt with friend Dale. In prep for the hunt, Erik and I were trying to get Lincoln excited. By way of comparison to one of Lincoln's favorite books, "Max and the Chocolate Chicken", we were inquiring about whether Lincoln intended to be Ruby who finds all sorts of eggs to win the prize of the chocolate chicken, or Max who is easily distracted, prefers playing, and finds no eggs, but is sneaky and ends up with the chocolate chicken anyway. Lincoln without hesitation said that he wanted to be Max and that I could be Ruby. Then he thoughtfully added that Berkeley could be the chocolate chicken. Lincoln typecast us each perfectly, but when the hunt began he was focused and like Ruby all the way.

Berkeley enjoyed watching the big boys race around the yard. How many more Easter's do you think I will get to dress him in such adorable outfits?
