Happy Birthday Lincoln

March 17, 2011. Happy Birthday Lincoln. You are four years old today!!!!
I joined Lincoln and his classmates for birthday celebration cupcakes. When I arrived at school, the entire class was seated with cupcakes in front of them and patient little faces full of anticipation. Lincoln insisted that no one could take a bite until I arrived and was seated next to the guest of honor.
After cupcakes, we left school and headed to Franklin Farm for some one on one time with the special birthday boy. The weather was beautiful and the perfect temperature, so Lincoln and I strolled around the farm checking out the cows, goats, sheep, horses, turkeys, ducks, and peacocks.
A milk cow was mooing repeatedly and while it truly wasn't loud, Lincoln told the cow to use her inside voice.
Back at home for the family birthday celebration, I tried to get a picture of Lincoln in his special crown, but he was not in the mood to humor me.

Crown off and contently playing in the sandbox. Not sure why they decided to sit so close to one another, but they were each very happy in their closeness.
Time for cake. Lincoln was all over the place with the type of cake he wanted for his birthday. Suggestions included: Bee, Bird, Hippo, Car, Dinosaur, Lion, Bear, Tinkerbell. In the week leading up to his birthday, I literally think he named 20 different cake styles. The two consistent themes however where chocolate cake with pink and purple icing (his favorite colors). So, given that he couldn't decide and that it was just a matter of time before I opted for a cake in the spirit of St. Patrick's Day, year 4 seemed the perfect time to bring out the shamrock.
Lincoln was excited that it was purple and matched his crown!!!

Erik is sharing with Lincoln the special card that he made for him. All sorts of pictures of Lincoln and daddy together, sharing fun memories. Certainly a keepsake.

Present time.
