Already Five Months Old

Lincoln turned five months old this month and has started to show us all sorts of new tricks. He can blow bubbles, get both thumbs in his mouth at the same time, grab his toes, and make all sorts of squeaks and squeals followed by lots of smiles and belly laughs. He is adjusting to the routine of daycare well (I am getting there), and seems to enjoy the company of his caregivers.
In August, we visited Kelly, Steve, and Grayson in Christiansburg and spent some time strolling along the Huckleberry Trail. Steve and Erik also enjoyed a day canoeing on the New River, while Kelly and I hung out with our favorite little men, chatting over lunch, and shopping in Blacksburg.

Grayson enjoyed the sights and was very talkative as we strolled along. It was fun watching him take a couple swigs from his bottle and then put it back in the cup holder when he was done. They learn so quickly!

Lincoln's favorite place to nap is in someone's lap and I can't resist taking his picture.

After a nice long nap, he always awakes with very bright eyes.

Tummy Time is part of Lincoln's daily routine. After what seemed like months of crying and burying his face in his hands, Lincoln has learned that it is not so bad being on his tummy. He will be crawling towards his toy guitar before we know it.

Bumbo time is another one of his not so favorite pass times. Like Tummy Time, we endured lots of unhappy faces until Lincoln discovered that you can see all sorts of new things when sitting up and the squishy rubber seat is actually quite comfortable. Chase makes circles around him and it is fun to watch his little head turn from side to side.

How cute is Lincoln? Sooo cute!

Erik's mom came up from Charleston to spend a week with her first grandson. Lincoln has changed quite a bit since they first spent time together in March. We all had a good time together touring the Spy Museum downtown, having lunch together, and just relaxing in the evenings. Chase is not in this picture or any of the week's pictures as she received the unfortunate gift of a skunk. Multiple baths later and she still can't sleep in the house. Tomato juice here we come.

On the way to the Spy Museum, Lincoln discovered that he can put his tongue through the ring toy attached to his Whoozit. You can't really see his new move in this picture, but take my word for it, he was very excited to make this discovery.

Lincoln and his Grandmama played "Frog and Frog and Frog" lots of times throughout the week. Anne bounced Lincoln on her legs and lifted him in the air. You can tell from this pictures that they both had a great time. Lincoln gave us lots of rewarding belly laughs.

Lincoln loves spending time on the deck looking up at the trees.
