To Pumpkinville on the Big Yellow Bus

October 9, 2009. Lincoln's first field trip to Pumpkinville in Leesburg, VA. I had the pleasure of joining Lincoln on his first ever ride on a big yellow school bus as part of his pre-school class field trip. Lincoln's sheer join and excitement was palpable. The pictures don't do justice to what a happy little boy he was on this special day when he got to ride the big school bus. There were about six other kids on our bus (three buses made the journey) with their respective parent on the bus with us, but Lincoln far and away was the most verbal in expressing how awesome it was to be on the bus. He was shouting in a loud, but happy voice, "I'm ridin' the biieeg bus" to each of his friends and spontaneously clapping. When Brian, the bus driver turned on the radio, Lincoln seemed to know many of the songs. In particular, he bee-bopped his little head from side to side while singing, "Here Comes the Sun" for most of the ride to Pumpkinville and practically the entire ride back.

Lincoln is checking out the lemurs. Who would have thought a family of lemurs resided in Leesburg. Pumpkinville was chocked full of exotic animals including a zebra, monkeys, an emu, and several other creatures for which I couldn't pronounce their names.

Going down the slide all by himself. Lincoln showed no hesitation and sat right down on the slide to share the experience with his classmates. As you can see, the slide wasn't your typical playground slide.

Lincoln was a little timid in the animal contact center. Though he never cried or ran, he wasn't to keen on getting close to the sheep or goats.

Back on the school bus and headed home. Lincoln, along with all of his classmates was super tired after such a fun filled day.
