Batteaux Season

June 20, 2009. The James River Batteaux Festival begins. The boats are ready and the old timey batteaux folk are dressing the part and preparing their gear for a week long adventure on the James. Dad and Ralph were super proud of the brand new Anthony Rucker that the built by hand. Word has it that the boat was dry all week, so dry in fact that they had to actually bail water into the boat to prevent it from drying out. A mark of true craftsmanship. Erik enjoyed three days/nights on the river. Lincoln and I stayed with Ursula, Jeremy, and Emerson. Throughout the weekend and really until Erik got home, when I asked Lincoln where Daddy was, he quickly responded with "Daddy riddin' na battoe."

Lincoln was not very happy when Emerson splashed him.
