Old Timey Batteaux Folk

Every year, in June, Lynchburg hosts the James River Batteaux Festival. The festival lasts for a full week and kicks off on a Saturday with the batteaux launch. People come from all over to gather on the banks of the James and watch the handcrafted boats as they are poled down the river. My dad is co-captain of the "Anthony Rucker," so Erik and I were welcomed aboard for as many days as we could stay. We dressed the part in traditional old timey batteaux cloths, and enjoyed a day on the river. Though Lincoln was dressed appropriately in his own batteaux shirt, pants, and crocs, Erik and I enjoyed a day on the river without our little man. Lincoln stayed with Ursula, Jeremy, and Emerson, while we basked in the sun and enjoyed a brewsky or two with friends and family. Being that it was my first night ever spent away from Lincoln, I was a bit unsettled and nervous that he was going to keep Ursula and Jeremy up all night (like he does Erik and I). But wouldn't you know, Lincoln went to sleep earlier than usual and slept through the night without a problem. So much for missing his parents.
