Snow Storm - Round Two
February 10, 2010. A second storm, with blizzard like winds, has kicked up. D.C. and the surrounding metro area expected to get another 8 to 14 inches. The snow and wind has been blowing here since around 9pm last night. I have shoveled more again today to try and keep up with it. I am pretty sure I could get the truck out if I needed to, but without 4 wheel drive, you aren't going anywhere soon. Icsicles nearly three feet long formed along the gutters and I have been whacking away at them (the ones I can reach anyway). Water is coming into Berkeley's room now - keep your fingers crossed it doesn't ruin his newly painted nursery.
Inside my mom and I have been keeping the boys and each other company. My mom came to help me battle the second storm, since more power outages are expected. I have loaded the garage with firewood and have candles waiting, so we are ready for the dark if/when it comes. Our only dilemma at the moment is that the beer supply is getting low. At least I thought to load up on diapers and wipes before all the weather hit.
To keep busy, Lincoln and I have enjoyed painting towers, buildings, and mountains to go along with his train set today. As much as he enjoys painting, I think he might enjoy cleaning the brushes more. We had a bit of a water accident today. We have also been listening to music, dancing, and playing Barrel of Monkeys. Lincoln has found that hanging them from his basketball goal is fun - a new trick his Nana taught him. Berkeley has been awake a lot today and is starting to make some cooing sounds coupled with interesting facial expressions. I think I will have my first smile from son to mother in the near future.
