Lazy Labor Days

For Labor Day, Nana and Daddy Tom decided to put the boys to work by providing them with their very own, pint size power drill.

The little boys and the big boys thought pushing the button to make the drill go "whrrrzzz' was fun. Emerson and Lincoln were occupied for long stretches playing with their drills and hanging out in the playpen. Nanny had the good idea to bring the playpen on the camping trip. This playpen is nearly 65 years old and it still works perfectly. Children, grand children, and great grand children alike have looked out at the world from this little handcrafted pen.

After a couple spins around the campfire, Lincoln had to get in a few hugs.

Lincoln spent much of the Labor Day weekend working away to fill his dumptruck or the Radio Flyer with sticks, grass, and dirt. He would fill it up, dump it out, and start all over again.

Showing Emerson how the loading process works.

Then, it is off we go!!! Weeee....

What an expression. If I didn't know that he was thrilled to be pushing his truck around, I would think he had just heard a really scary ghost story.

Back at work again. Different vehicle, same task. I am not sure whether there was more dirt in the wagon or on Lincoln's head.

Nine married years together, plus five before that. It has become a tradition to celebrate our anniverary, camping style.

It wouldn't be a camping trip without the git fiddles.
